On the morning of the 10th of April, hundreds of overseas and domestic logistics companies came to attend the 2nd (Xiamen) International Freight Forwarders & Logistics Cooperation Forum sponsored by China Logistics Club (Hong Kong CLC), CIFA Xiamen, China 21 Century Logistics Times, with the support by Xiamen Municipal Trade Development Bureau. Xiamen Vice-Mayor Ms. Huang Ling, Xiamen Municipal Trade Development Bureau deputy director general Yao Mu Zhong, Lin Zhen Ya also attended the conference. Representing the Xiamen Government, the Vice-Mayor Ms. Huang delivered a speech. She said “We are glad to see this conference being held here. This Forum has brought an international communication platform to “a door at the home” of Xiamen and the freight forwarders in the area.  This Forum creates a window through which overseas companies can gain a good understanding of Xiamen, Fujian, while the domestic companies have the opportunity to learn .

about their overseas business associates.  This is the second conference held in Xiamen. I am happy to see its great improvement in organization and content. Our government is thankful to the conference host who helps develop the logistics companies in Xiamen.  I thank you for giving us this platform to the freight forwarder & logistics companies in Xiamen and those in the surrounding area. We hope this Forum will become an annual event, better and more influential every year.  The Xiamen government will provide you with continuous support.”  In her speech, Vice-Mayor Ms. Huang pointed out that in these years, all level of governments pay close attention to the development in this business.  The Trade Department made a report “The Guide on Accelerating the Development on Logistics” on the 10th of March which indicated further the support on this business, and the understanding of the development of the goals and policies.  The city of Xiamen continues to push transnational development, invest in logistics and tourism, promote the advantage of the harbor, develop the city along the coast, and build a logistics center for the Straits.  The goal of Xiamen is to develop a shipping center.  More opportunities come along with the development of the Straits.

Vice-Mayor Ms. Huang Ling disclosed, “I will give you all the news here.  The Chinese Government will give great support to logistics industry.  The domestic logistics equipment listed in the product catalogue is tax-refundable.  Imported equipment is tax-free.  We are planning to host a logistics fair.  I hope our fair has the support from the freight forwarders and related logistics companies.  Thank you.”

Mr. Henrik, the Chairmen of China Logistics Club (CLC), thanked Vice-Mayor Ms. Huang Ling for her speech, and also thanked for the participating delegates, especially thankful for the hospitality and support of the Xiamen Municipal Trade Development Bureau and Xiamen International Freight Forwarder Association (XIFFA) for the conference. Reports about the conference in Xiamen newspapers and media: These days, Xiamen Daily, Xiamen Commercial Newspaper, Xiamen TV station, Xiamen Government net, and Xiamen net all reported about the conference. Xiamen Daily said: Mr. Henrik who chaired the conference, introduced Xiamen to the delegates from well-known international companies with full enthusiasm. When the reporter asked Mr. Henrik about the impression on the development of Xiamen port, he had his thumb up, "Xiamen will be the one of the largest trading ports on the two sides of the strait.”  Because of the tremendous prospects at the Xiamen port, this year Mr. Henrik brought more world-renowned shipping, logistics and freight forwarding companies to Xiamen. Mr. Henrik was interviewed by our reporter during the conference.  Mr. Henrik said, “Xiamen is a very beautiful city.  People here are very kind. 

I love to come to Xiamen very much. Xiamen is also a very important port. Big and small logistics companies come here from all over the world. Put in simply, the development of Xiamen represents the developing trend of China freight forwarder& logistics companies. Although logistics develops at a rapid speed at the global level, such development in China is even faster.  Thus, SME forwarders still have their chances. We hold such conference like this kind is to hope that we can cooperate with these companies. I think we are all eggs.   We perfect ourselves and look forward to becoming a chicken one day”, reported by Zong Man Yi. Another report said as the centre of the west coast of the straits, Xiamen’s ability to attract businesses is increasing. More than 200 freight forwarders & logistics companies came to Xiamen from the overseas and the domestic. Vice-Mayor Ms. Huang ling disclosed during the forum that our city’s related department is preparing to hold an exhibition on logistic equipment. Xiamen Commercial Newspaper reported that according to Mr. Henrik, the format of meeting clients on one-to-one basis is the norm internationally.  “We let our attendees use access code to log in onto our website, find their potential clients, then make appointment in advance so that they can meet their clients one-on-one in the conference.” Mr. Henrik said.  He further observed, “Xiamen is a very important port. You can find all the representatives from different freight forwarders here that include branches of international big companies.  All of their members look forward to coming to Xiamen and hope to establish good cooperation and relationship with Xiamen.”
